The IEA SHC Task 41 “Solar Energy and Architecture” Collection of Case Studies focuses on architecture and solar energy:
The overall global composition:
How is solar energy integrated in the whole concept of the building and contributes to high architectural quality
Detailed description of surface and materials:
How is solar energy used in considerations of design which contributes to architectural quality
Added value and functions:
How does solar energy contribute to spatial experiences or other added values which contributes to architectural quality
The Collection of Case Studies include a wide range of new built or retrofitted building types such as single and multi-family housing, offices, schools and universities, stadiums, culture buildings, etc. The case studies include active solar (photovoltaic and solar thermal) and passive solar.
More than 230 case studies have been proposed and evaluated by a broad range of trained architects from universities, research institutes, dissemination organisations and professional practices. 50 projects from 11 countries have been selected to the Collection of Case Studies.
HOW TO SELECT
The Collection of Case Studies is divided in 6 categories: technology - project type – country –typology - building type - year.
Each category has a number of different options. To select these, just click the respective options (note only one option can be chosen within each category).
All case studies fulfilling the chosen options are shown on the screen.
HOW TO DOWNLOAD
Select the case studies by clicking the image of each case study: a green fly´s leg is shown in the corner of every picture.
Click “Download” and the selected case studies are merged into one pdf
If you select many case studies you may need to download these in more than one go, as the file may become quite large. We recommend max. 10 case studies in one download.
